The Earth Day excursion. Whale watching out of season.a

Had a great day yesterday for Earth Day. It wasn’t whale watching season but as you can see from the video’s below, some one forgot to tell the Minke Whale that was splashing around just of the coast of San Diego harbor. Ya Minke whales are the second smallest baleen whale ( about the size of three Dodge Rams) but this guy was fun to watch. We also saw a large pod of Common dolphins right before we saw the Minke. The pod on the surface looked to be about 100 dolphins in all, but from what I have learned since then, is you times that by ten, and that’s what is under the surface of the waves. The ocean is a wonderous place…

He was very active which is very rare for Minke Whales!

After seeing these amazing animals, it inspired me to do some reading on the ocean I live so close to, but know only a little about. If you love the ocean, and want to keep it just the way it is, first learn as much as you can about it.
